Police probe pentagon security over Lubaga shooting incident

Following an incident that occurred on Tuesday in Butikilo zone in Lubaga were a security guard attached to pentagon security was shot on both legs.

According to Kampala metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Oweyesigyire, the guard identified as Richard Bayomungo was in possession of a rifle armed with five rounds of ammunition which he accidentally dropped his gun which discharged bullets.

“ The victim was rushed to Mulago hospital and the gun was been recovered,” Oweyesigyire said in a statement.

However the police are still investigating circumstances that led to this incident.

“ Why would you be ready to shoot at all times yet you aren’t in danger? This however shows that he had already corked his gun so when the gun slid out of his hand and fellow down probably being old it discharged bullets,” Oweyesigyire added.”

He further said they are to tighten up inspection to all private security guards in Kampala in order to forestall any dangers that may arise out of poor handling of rifles which could pose a threat to the public.
