The Archbishop of the church of Uganda Dr Steven Kazimba Mugalu has tasked everyone implicated in the Karamoja iron sheets saga to return what he termed as belonging for the poor.
“ For the mater of corruption, we talk and talk about this challenge in our country but nothing seems to change .There is no power greater than death . Corruption is a strong force but it’s not stronger than death,” Dr Kaziimba said.
While delivering his Easter Message at Namirembe Church of Uganda the Archbishop quoted this biblical verse.
“ Luke 19:8 and the story of Zaccheus the corrupt tax collector who had defrauded people by overcharging them, Kazimba said after seeing the light he returned what belonged to the people
This development comes hours after one of the implicated the minister Ms Mary Goretti Kitutu was sent to Luzira prison over the iron sheets prob.
Ms Kitutu Goretti was on Thursday arraigned before the Anti Corruption Court and charges related to corruption, conspiracy to defraud and loss of government property read to her.
She was charged alongside with her brother Michael Kitutu Naboya who was accused of receiving iron sheets from the ministry yet they were proceeds of crime.
However several officials from government including the vice president, prime minister, finance minister among others have been implicated in benefiting from the diverted Karamoja iron sheets saga.
Most of these officials blame Ms Kitutu saying they had never solicited for the iron sheets but rather found their way to their constituents.
