Patriotic league of Uganda appoints new leaders for greater Mukono region

In an announcement made by Patriotic League Uganda (PLU) Secretary General David Kabanda, Jimmy Lwanga, a Member of Parliament from Njeru Municipality, has been appointed as the Coordinator for Greater Mukono. Lwanga, who previously belonged to the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP), transitioned to the MK movement in August last year, following in the footsteps of other NUP MPs like Twaha Kagabo.

Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chairman of Patriotic League Uganda, has emphasized the organization’s stance as a civic group rather than a political party. He encouraged members to participate in the upcoming 2026 elections and suggested alignment with the NRM party. This move raised concerns about the potential influence of the MK Movement within the opposition ranks.

Forging a values-driven leadership team for greater Mukono

Apart from Jimmy Lwanga, Muhoozi appointed a diverse team of leaders for Greater Mukono, including Adrian Waswa Ddungu as Assistant Coordinator, Augustine Bankunda as Publicity Secretary, and Abdullah Kasozi as Committee Secretary.

The team also comprises representatives for various councils, reflecting PLU’s focus on values such as patriotism, anti-corruption, and efficient public resource management.

Kabanda expressed confidence in the newly appointed leaders, highlighting their dedication to PLU’s values.

The leadership team is expected to play a pivotal role in engaging and mobilizing the community in Greater Mukono, with a shared goal of fostering transformation and socio-economic development in the region.
