In a thoughtful reply, they highlighted the biblical perspective on the freedom to dance and enjoy life, referencing 2 Corinthians 3:17 to emphasize the presence of freedom where the Spirit of the Lord resides.
They expressed hope for understanding and inclusivity, believing in the joy of dancing.
Apostle Lubega’s sermon at the Railway Grounds in Jinja called for an end to Nyege Nyege festival, based on his interpretation of Philippians 2:10-11 and his concerns about immorality.
He warned against the spiritual implications of hosting such events in Jinja, urging believers to resist what he deemed as ungodly festivals.
In response, the Nyege Nyege organizers acknowledged differing viewpoints while underscoring the festival’s positive impact on joy, livelihoods, and Uganda’s cultural reputation.
